My passion for wellness took a twist after ten years of chronic illness. I had been diagnosed with Interstitial Cystitis, Fibromyalgia, Irritable Bowel Syndrome, and was living with unexplained symptoms which often left me feeling like I was going insane. I used to go to the bathroom 30-40 times a day. I would have to stop at Burger King to go to the bathroom on my way to the grocery store. I saw 9 urologists that did nothing to help me. A rheumatologist told me to I was going to have to slow down. I was only 26 AND I was just married AND I planning on having a child! Slow down?? The gastrointestinal doctor gave me several diagnoses over the years as well as a lot of invasive tests and prescriptions that failed.
My breaking point came several years ago when I was in so much pain that I could not take care of my child. Every inch of my body ached and I literally crawled to the phone to call my sister to to come pick up my daughter. My legs were numb and my feet tingled. I was terrified.
My whole life changed that day. I began a quest to find the answers. I was finished with doctors, tests,a nd medications that failed. I called another sister who worked at a gym and told her I was coming to join and requested she set me up with a personal trainer. I began searching for answers by reading and studying anything I could get my hands on.
I traveled an interesting, as well as challenging, path in regards to my health but I learned a few really basic principles. I know that you are what you eat, you create what you think, and movement means your alive. I changed my entire life with better nutrition, exercise, and better management of my thinking. I have none of the conditions that I had been diagnosed with. I am healthier than I ever have been and I continue to create greater and greater wellness.
