To be successful at achieving goals one must have clarity and direction. A vision with a plan of action creates success. This is accomplished by first determining what area of life needs the most attention. One way to do this is by evaluating each of these areas: wellness, spirituality, marriage, career, and friendships and choosing one or two to work on.
Then, the goal needs to be defined using SMART goals; specific, measurable, attainable, relevant, and timed. An example of a fitness goal could be (depending on the person) : I reduce body fat to 18% by November 27th to be healthy and fit.
The next step is to create a plan of action. Determine what steps are needed to achieve the goal. If it is a fitness goal then the steps would include specific plans for working out such as going to the gym two times a week for 60 minutes to lift weights and walking for 30 minutes 2 times a week. Each individual is unique and the plan should be based on what is appropriate for that specific person.
To support success it is helpful to evaluate any limiting beliefs that may hinder achievement. Often people believe they are not good enough or that they don’t have enough time. These are not facts, they are beliefs held in one’s mind that can be better managed.
A few ways to manage the mind and achieve success include writing a list of prior success and reviewing it daily, creating a vision/dream board, practicing affirmations, and meditation. These are just a few tools that will insure success when properly utilized.
If you can think it then you can achieve it!
