Insight and Perspective=Empowerment

“No problem can be solved from the same level of consciousness that created it.” Albert Einstein

No, it won’t solve every problem, but you will gain insight and perspective and with that comes a new level of consciousness.

Psychologists suggest that 80% of the time you are emotionally reacting to people and experiences based off situations and experiences of your past. If you wish to consciously choose your response from a more ideal level of consciousness for better outcomes you must first develop self-awareness.

Self-awareness gives you insight into your thoughts, your emotional processes, your relationships, your history, your values, your beliefs, your stress level, your well-being, your dreams and passions, your skill set, and so much more.

Although I am a fan of self-discovery through Enneagram tests, Gallup Strength Finder, and others, sometimes what you need to do is be still and be silent, if even for a few moments. We as society spend too much time “doing” and not enough time allowing for the space where the answers come naturally.

“Do you have the patience to wait till your mud settles and the water is clear?” Can you remain unmoving till the right action arises by itself?” Lao Tzu

My experience has been that formal meditations practices make it easier for me to be naturally more mindful and self-aware throughout the day (science says this is so…). I have also found that consciously choosing mini moments to mindfully notice my breath, sense my body, name my feelings, notice the sounds, or notice my thoughts helps me to make more conscious decisions. These practices give me clear insight and I gain perspective even in the worst of scenarios.

Both of these styles of practices lead me to silence, stillness, and knowing. This quiet knowing allows me to make conscious decisions that improve my health, relationships, and success in positive and empowering ways. YOU CAN TOO!

“The real meditation practice is how we live our lives from moment to moment.” Jon Kabat-Zinn

Creating Health and Happiness

There are only three things that can make your dreams a reality; your thoughts, your words, and your actions. If you desire healing in any form and want more joy in your daily life then you would be wise to consider changing your thinking, speaking kindly, and taking action steps to reach your goals.

Let’s consider the mind, my favorite subject, for a moment.  Deeply rooted in your subconscious are beliefs that help create your reality in the physical world. Some of this was learned, some of it decided before you came here, all of it accessible and able to be changed for your greater good if you choose to utilize certain practices such as meditation.

As for speaking, your words also have creative energy. Speak kindly of yourself and others. Use words that feel good. My sense of humor tends to be on the side of sarcasm and I would do well to find a way to be more positive in cracking jokes about myself.

Action. Yes, you will have to actually do something to get something. Although, there is good in stopping and just being. You will need to have clarity on a goal as well as what steps you will need to do take to achieve success. The goal and the steps will need to be clearly defined and realistic.

I believe that the way to creating health and happiness begins with knowing yourself. You need to know what you are passionate about, you need find clarity on what you really want as well as what it looks like and feels like, you need support, encouragement and love, you need believe in yourself, and you need to trust that all is well.

There are five basic principles for creating a healthy and happy life; awareness (self-empowerment at its best), acceptance (somewhat more challenging), attitude (yes, you have a choice), action (do something), and acknowledgment (gratitude). Utilizing these five principles will change your life. Knowing how to use them is key.

I offer online, phone, and in person coaching sessions that can show you how to use these principles to change your life.  I am available to teach these to organizations and am teaching a class on November 6 on how to use these principles to manage stress. Profound Reminder

Experiences occur that cause us to reevaluate our lives.  Some events that I witnessed this week opened my eyes.  When I say witnessed I am referring to taking a step back and viewing my life as an outsider.  Although I struggled with setting my emotions aside, I had moments of complete clarity. Watching things unfold as a spectator allowed me to gain a different perspective. I understood, if even for brief moments, the role I had played in the creation of events.

My absolute passion is the mind, the brain, the power of thought and how it affects our lives.  I am fascinated by the science  and in awe over how our thinking really creates the lives that we lead.  Even more profound is the fact that at any given moment we have a choice.  We have a choice to change our thinking and thus change our lives by becoming aware of our thoughts and choosing ones that are better suited to leading happier lives.  Sounds simple enough, right?

Well… not so simple for me.  Despite my very clear understanding and absolute love of the mind, my thoughts run like wild-fire creating some very interesting situations to say the least. These situations invoke such an intense amount of emotion that the challenge of choosing a different thought seems damn near impossible. I have gotten so wrapped up in the emotional pain that all I could do was blame and criticize proving that what you resist persist.  And on top of it, I have gotten stuck there. I feel like a prisoner trapped in my own self-defeating mind.

A friend of mine said to me, “You will teach what you need to learn the most.”  What  I love the most I seem to need to be reminded of the most.  This week I was reminded. I was reminded in profound ways of just how I powerful my mind is in creating my life.  I was reminded of exactly what I don’t want and because of that I can choose differently even if it for a brief moment.  It is during those moments that I am at the most peace. It is during those moments that I have a complete understanding of this world and have no need to change it.  True peace of mind seems to come when we can be surrounded by chaos and yet have peace in our hearts.

Peace of mind and love to all my friends and family!
